Experiential education

True learning is based on discovery guided by mentoring rather than the transmission of knowledge.

Dewey (cited in Boyer, 1998)

For an experience to be educational, two principles must be respected: the principle of interaction, and the principle of continuity.
The learner must interact in some way with his or her environment in order to learn.  Experiences must also be understood in relation to one another; past experiences shape our learning from current experiences, which in turn affect future learning.
